Are wooden stakes included with the StormWattles?

No. They are optional. Part# 9744 is a package of (32) 1" x 1" x 18" stakes.

How far apart should the stakes be placed when installing Ultra-StormWattles?

We recommend a 2' spacing for most applications.

Why should I use StormWattles instead of silt fence?

There are several reasons:

• Aesthetics - In housing developments and other construction areas where new or potential clients are able to see the site, StormWattles allow an obstructed view. They are also more pleasing to the eye than unsightly black fencing that is 2-3' high.
• Silt fence has to be removed - In the final stages of construction, silt fence is removed. When this is done the silt, dirt and sediment that has been retained no longer has any form of containment or control. Ultra-StormWattles can be left in place even after construction is completed. It will eventually "mulch-in" with the surrounding environment.

What are they made of?

Wheat straw.

Are StormWattles biodegradable?

The wheat straw is biodegradable. The netting is photodegradable and will break down with extended exposure to sunlight and UV rays.
